Using clay to remove dirt, grime, and stains from your vehicle’s paint is one step in SPA’s complete detailing – however our customers routinely get their vehicles clayed in between periodic details. The concept here is that the clay has adhesion properties so that as you rub the clay over the paint, the dirt adheres to the clay, creating a clean surface that can then be waxed. Tar, mulch spores (little black tarry dots that shoot 20ft in the air from old mulch), light sap, caked on dirt and other stubborn grime are all removed by clay without damaging the paint.

We recommend hand waxing your car at least six times a year. We use Surf City Garage’s Barrier Reef Carnauba Wax – the #1 wax in Europe! This protective wax layer prevents damage from sap, corrosive lime stains you can get in parking garages, minor scratching from bushes, and any other harsh hazards.

Some of SPA’s customers who are very particular like to have clean engine compartments – and of course we’re here to oblige them. While engine compartment details are included among the list of services we perform on more complete details, some folks want the engines cleaned in between details! While this service does not apply to electric vehicles, we do offer a complimentary engine compartment rinse with any wash – just pop your hood and ask the greeter to power wash the engine compartment – this often removes any leaves and debris that may have gotten caught under the hood and gently removes any surface dirt or dust that may have accumulated.

SPA offers window tint installation that helps block UV rays from penetrating your glass. It can reduce sun glare and provides additional protection for your car’s interior. We do not recommend tinting the windshield and we adhere to state regulations for approved tint color.

When you have cloth seats in your vehicle, they can get very dirty over time. SPA offers a seat cleaning service that involves the use of a specialized shampoo that we apply with an extractor. Care must be taken to ensure that a limited amount of liquid is applied so as not to damage or inadvertently affect air bag sensors.

Leather seating in cars needs occasional conditioning to keep the leather soft and supple. Sun and heat can dry the leather and make it brittle and soon enough, without proper care, you’ll start to seat creases and tears that can be costly to repair. This is especially true for ventilated seats – and further, Asian manufacturers tend to use thinner gauge, less durable leather, so they need even more attention. SPA technicians use top grade leather conditioners to treat the leather – like shining your shoes! Just be aware, your seats may be a little slippery for a day or two!

Another stubborn problem that requires special cleaning techniques is pet hair removal. Long hair, short hair, or fur, we use special tools and compressed air to get all the hair out. Depending on the extent of the problem, this service can be while-u-wait or may require leaving your vehicle.

Quite a few of SPA’s regular customers go the beach in the summer months. By the end of the season their vehicles are filled sand, especially Jeeps that they drive on the beach. While most people think vacuuming works to remove the sand, it actually is largely ineffective. Rather than sucking up the sand, SPA technicians use highly compressed air to blow the sand out. Depending on the amount of sand, this service may require you to leave your vehicle for the day.

Your car or truck stinks – mold, gasoline, bleach, milk, vomit, urine, excrement – SPA has dealt with all of them. If you spilled things in your car, especially milk – get it in to SPA – we’ll get the filth cleaned up and the odor removed – it may take several days, but we get excellent results to save you from driving in a stinky car.

Lingering smells and foul odors that are generally not associated with known spills can be treated using ozone, which we dispense with an ozone machine. The machine is placed in your car for time periods that vary from several hours to overnight. The ozone gas permeates the car, neutralizing odors and killing bacteria and viruses. The ozone gas can reach areas that are hard to clean, like under seats, inside vents, and upholstery fibers.

SPA technicians often deal with vehicles whose interiors are wet either from leaving the windows or sunroof open, from a clogged air conditioner drain, from clogged sunroof drains or from minor flooding that somehow breaching the vehicles cabin. This service usually requires several days to complete as it may require removal of interior components like seats and carpet. Often times this requires special tools to remove seats, and familiarity with airbag components. Most new vehicles require recalibration of front seats for proper airbag function. If you experience wet carpets, get your vehicle in as quickly as possible. We provide paperwork for insurance claims for especially difficult jobs.
